Master Chief has to share the spotlight with new spartan protagonist Locke, Cortana is kinda the baddie but not really, while the game’s controls crib on Call of Duty (Halo finally gets iron sights) and Titanfall (note the boost dash) without ever fully convincing. Fight against one of the campaign’s dratted Wardens – a infuriating breed of mini boss who can only be hurt from behind as your allies distract them from the front – and you’ll know exactly what kind of tiresome grind Halo 5 is when ‘enjoyed’ on your own.ĭespite Microsoft throwing an insane budget at Xbox One’s first proper Halo, every part of Guardians feels confused. Make no mistake, Halo 5 was designed to be played with three online chums by your side. Here it is, ladies and gents: the first (and hopefully only) Halo campaign that’s simply no fun to play on your lonesome. It may not feature as many options as its more complex PC contemporaries, but if you want a break from staring down the barrel of an MA5 Assault Rifle, Halo Wars provides a unique perspective on an iconic franchise. But rather than getting bogged down in menus and statistics, Halo Wars streamlines the whole process for the Xbox 360, keeping the action running at a brisk pace that's distinctly Halo. Halo Wars lets you build your own base, upgrade buildings, and amass a legion of soldiers, Warthogs, and Pelicans in order to crush the Covenant armada. But not only does Halo Wars work - it's one of the series' unsung classics. Developed by the studio that created PC strategy classics like Age of Empires, Ensemble Studios took Halo's myriad aliens, weapons, and vehicles and put them in a console-exclusive real-time strategy game - the video game equivalent of mixing oil and water. Perhaps more importantly, it's not remotely close to being a first-person shooter. For one, it's about the rank-and-file of the UNSC, with nary a Master Chief in sight. It's hard to believe Halo Wars is even part of Microsofts flagship series. ![]() Halo Wars 2 may continue to try and fill a gap in the market that probably doesn’t need plugged, but it still serves up a decent slice of strategy. The army-building antics of the new Blitz mode are also worthy of praise – recruiting enormous UNSC armies by building decks of cards is a really cute spin on the RTS formula. The story the Creative Assembly manages to spin is surprisingly decent too, and Blur Studio’s gorgeously rendered cinematics ooze big budget sleekness. New control groups make waging battles a more nuanced affair, and splitting your army into separate groups leads to multitasking alien murder on an epic scale. The original is one of the few games in the genre that feels comfortable played on a controller, and this sequel subtly evolves the control scheme, giving you a streamlined strategy title that never feels like it needs a mouse and keyboard – though the PC version does support them. Do you really need another Halo real-time strategy game in your life? Probably not, right? Well, you’re getting one anyway, champ! In defence of Halo Wars 2, it continues to get one thing absolutely right: it’s an RTS that works really well on a pad. 100+ monster types each with their own abilities, behaviors, strengths and weaknesses.Ask yourself an honest question. 13 dungeon branches, randomly chosen each game so that every run feels unique. 9 base character classes and 6 races with the ability to multi-class over the course of a run. You commented that prompts do not come across. You will have to amend your Bibliography definitions to include only source level fields. There is no workaround, as it is a design limitation. Footnotes relate to individual citations, but the Bibliography is a list of the master sources, not every single citation, otherwise it is just repeating the footnotes. Personally, I think the FH implementation is more accurate. They ARE permitted in the Footnote and Short Footnote definitions, so Mike's comment was only partly correct. RM permits Citation level fields in the Bibliography, but FH does not. I've had a look at another example of an imported RM Source Template, and I understand what is happening.Īlthough FH and RM source templates are very similar, there is one key difference between them. If you want to use the template in a new project, you have to create a definition file using the Create Source Template Defintions plugin, which is downloaded from the Plugin Store.ĭoes that solve your immediate issue? There is lots more that could be said on Facts, Sources and Templates, but it's best taken one step at a time, as it can be a bit overwhelming for new users.Īdded in edit - I have edited this post a couple of times to hopefully improve clarity, as it is a complex topic. You can create a source from the template in your existing project without creating a definition file. If this tab is not visible, select Tools > Preferences > Records Window, and change the display option from the default of "Always hide" to "Always show". To view the templates, see the "Source Templates" tab of the Records Window. ![]() So at the moment, all your templates are in the project, but cannot be used in other projects. When FH imports an RM file, it imports all the existing templated sources and their templates, but does NOT create the template definitions. ![]() Before you can create a new source template for use in your project, the definition has to be imported into the project. FH has a different method, which is more complex, but a lot more efficient once you get your head around how it works.Īt the top level, there is a template "definition", and these are collected into various "Collections", such as Essentials and Advanced, which are stored at the system level rather than being associated with any particular project. RM stores all its templates in each database file, so your existing file will contain all the hundreds of built-in templates, even though you don't use them. However, they are managed differently in the two apps. FH Templated Sources are very similar in design and concept to those in RM (probably no coincidence.). No - that manages existing Collection Definitions, but the issue here is that there is no Definition defined.Ī short background introduction is necessary to understand what is happening here. I'm sure I've missed something as I've searched for a solution but haven't had any luck.īTW, I can see a "collection" called "RootsMagic Import" when I go to an individual's "Facts" > "Add Citation." However, I can't find that collection elsewhere and even when I edit a template and change the "Collection" to "Simple Citations" it doesn't show up. I was able to create a new "Collection" (which I call, of course, "Simple Citations") by cloning "Essentials" and deleting all of the templates in the cloned version but I can't find a way to import the templates I created from RootsMagic. Anyway, that's a story for another day.Īs I've searched the help files for FH and also contacted tech support (they provided links to some good information), I can't see how to add my imported templates to a "collection" ("Essentials" and "Advanced" come with FH). This includes custom templates for my approach to citing sources, "Simple Citations":, which I created about ten years ago in response to the lack of a standardized approach to citing sources and my strong belief that "Evidence Explained" is an absolute mess. Based on what I'm seeing in FH, I'm strongly considering making the "big switch" from RM to FH.Īnyway, I'm still playing with FH and it was very simple to import (a test) file from RM - it appears as if everything transferred over very well. So far, I am VERY impressed with FH (and continue to be disappointed with RM - which seems to have simply gone the wrong direction, especially with RM8). Hi all, while I'm new to FH, I'm a very long-time user of RootsMagic and have just found FH. ![]() M i=m p follows from geodesic motion in a curved spacetime. The geodesic motion principle does rely on the assumption of an energy condition, but I think the box satisfies every reasonable energy condition. If this changed its inertial mass, then it would either have to accelerate (violating the principle that small test bodies move along geodesics) or not accelerate (violating local conservation of energy-momentum). If they were unequal, then you could have mechanisms inside the box that would convert the energy back and forth between, say, light and mechanical energy. So basically I want to prove that E=m i=m p=m a (in units where c=1).Į=m i follows from geodesic motion and conservation of energy-momentum, when you put the box in a flat spacetime. The claim that its gravitational fields can be parametrized by a scalar mass is consistent with Birkhoff's theorem. In principle this could actually be three different scalars: the inertial mass, active gravitational mass, and passive gravitational mass. Since the box has spherical symmetry, all you can measure about it, by any external observations, is some kind of scalar mass. While I was in the car this morning, I worked out the following somewhat more detailed and rigorous, but still nonmathematical, argument about the exterior field of the spherical box of photons. I think we're agreeing on the exterior results, but the issue of matching the boundary conditions properly had been bothering me, and I think your explanation helps clear that up. That's helped me to understand this better. This is unrealistic, but it saves you from having to account for the work done by expanding the shell. This translates into a measured acceleration of G (2E/c^2) / r^2.īut if you measure the gravity outside the sphere, the tension in the shell will essentially lower the Komar mass of the shell, and you'll only get an increment of E/c^2 from the original gravitational field you had outside the sphere.įor simplicity I'm assuming the shell doesn't expand when you fill it up with the photon gas. The Komar mass formula boils down to integrating rho + 3P for a small sphere, and since 3P = rho for a photon gas, you'd have twice the Komar mass and twice the gravity. You can think of the interior as a "photon gas", so the pressure is any direction is 1/3 the energy density. If you fill the hollow sphere up with light, you would find the light was twice as good as creating a gravitational field than cold matter, due to the pressure terms, as measured by such a probe just inside the surface of the sphere. ![]() If you imagine you had a hollow sphere, symmetry would mean that a probe just inside the surface of the sphere wouldn't be affected by the sphere. Let me outline an experiment in more detail: In particular, you can't find the gravitational field of a pencil beam of light just by simple application of E=mc 2. (This follows from Birkhoff's theorem, which says that all spherically symmetric gravitational fields have the same form.) But in the general case without spherical symmetry, there is no simple algebraic solution you have to solve the Einstein field equations. In the interview, he explained the difficulty of improving the various aspects of sensor performance like high ISO performance and color gradation in the process of making the sensor larger. Since first announcing its efforts on full-frame Foveon sensor back in 2018, Sigma has hit a number of roadblocks that have set back its efforts. This structure results in full color detail at every pixel, and eliminates the softness that comes from the demosaicing process used to fill in the color gaps in the Bayer design. Rather than the Bayer filter mosaic most conventional sensors use, which consists of arranging Red, Green or Blue color filters atop each photo sensor, Foveon sensors capture light with different energies at three different depths in the sensor, then reconstruct the red, green and blue information. One of the more interesting tidbits, however, comes around the eight-minute mark, wherein the host asks Mr. The 17-minute interview covers an array of topics, including Sigma’s strategy throughout the pandemic, its plans to continue supporting DSLR users and other topics. In a recent video interview, published to YouTube, Sigma Corporation CEO, Kazuto Yamaki, confirmed the company is working on a full-frame Foveon sensor that ‘should’ make its debut - at least in prototype form - by the end of the year.
